FirstBIOS Editor is a Windows based application that provides an easy to
use interface for modifying PhoenixBIOS 4.0 Rel. 6 and later, without
having to rebuild the BIOS. The BIOS ROM image can be modified using the
configuration editor screens for the individual components of the BIOS.
FirstBIOS Editor automatically decompresses a single ROM image back to the
small ROM modules that are part of a PC BIOS. Source code is not required
to make minor changes to the BIOS thus saving time and money on bringing
your product to market.
When a ROM image is modified, FirstBIOS Editor incorporates all changes
into a new BIOS image that can be written to a flash device. This new image
can be generated very quickly so changes can be tested without any delay
compared to a compilation from source code.
This tool will allow embedded design manufacturers, OEM/ODMs and System
Builders to create custom BIOS images to suite their specific application
and designs, without the complicated source code changes that were
traditionally needed.
Possible modifications for example are configuring the system hardware,
modifying the behaviour of the BIOS, optimising the system performance or
the POST and Setup strings and change the startup or Splash screen.
The necessary binary BIOS image often is available from chipset
manufacturer\x92s reference platforms or can be provided by MSC.
In cases where more sophisticated changes to the BIOS are necessary, MSC
offers engineering services for modifying the BIOS source code or can
license the source code for embedded PC projects to customers who want to
adapt the BIOS by themselves.
In addition to customising and selling BIOS products, MSC offers the
development of customer-specific single-board computers and complete IPC
systems. As a distributor with own manufacturing capacities, MSC can also
offer its services as board and system manufacturer, and thus deliver
everything for its customers one-stop.
