Û ÛÛ    derived from serifed types—a practice that has now become          ÛÛ Û
Û ÛÛ    commonplace. As applied before to italics, this type of            ÛÛ Û
Û ÛÛ    variation expands typographic possibilities, diferentiating of     ÛÛ Û
Û ÛÛ    the status of each text. This is fundamental to contemporary       ÛÛ Û
Û ÛÛ    documents and the press, where comments & analyses must be         ÛÛ Û
Û ÛÛ    distinguished subtly from news. The design of Le Monde Sans        ÛÛ Û
Û ÛÛ    continues the basic common structure found in the members of       ÛÛ Û
Û ÛÛ    the Le Monde family: its proportions, a relatively narrow          ÛÛ Û
Û ÛÛ    width, a fairly oblique axis, etc. The typographer can, at all     ÛÛ Û
Û ÛÛ    times, switch between Sans & Journal or Courrier without any       ÛÛ Û
Û ÛÛ    disruption in the composition. Le Monde Sans is offered in         ÛÛ Û
Û ÛÛ    numerous weights – seven in total, in roman, italic & small        ÛÛ Û
