         Û  I started playing in my first serious band just  when  Û
         Û  the record format shifted from vinyl to CD. With that  Û
         Û  first  band we  even managed  to release  a vinyl  EP  Û
         Û  before CD took over.                                   Û

         Û  After we made that EP, we made a bunch of recordings,  Û
         Û  both for a CD that we released and just some demos in  Û
         Û  the studio with the songs  of the original EP in  new  Û
         Û  versions. Every  time we  re-recorded those  songs we  Û
         Û  tried capturing the feel of the first cut on that EP.  Û
         Û  We never  succeeded. The  new recordings  always came  Û
         Û  out more competent than the originals but also a  lot  Û
         Û  less emotional.                                        Û

         Û  Before this turns into  an article in any  well-known  Û
         Û  rock mag  where the  thirtysomething rock  journalist  Û
         Û  tries to delve  into the mysteries  of lost youth,  I  Û
         Û  know you’re asking yourself:  in which way does  this  Û
         Û  relate  to presenting  a software  tool designed  for  Û
         Û  converting audio recordings of drums to MIDI?          Û

         Û  sounds, we could have  achieved what we were  looking  Û
         Û  for - a better sounding recording... at least for one  Û

         Û  With the tools that  Toontrack Music and others  have  Û
         Û  developed to make digital instruments sound like they  Û
         Û  came out  of a  ‘full-on studio’,  when in  fact they  Û
         Û  were  produced  on a  laptop  computer, the  improved  Û
         Û  sound quality is easily achievable, undoubtedly.       Û

         Û  back  to   the  original   multi  track   recordings.  Û
