Û ÛÛ    Bliss was originally released in 1996 as a six weight family.      ÛÛ Û
Û ÛÛ    ExtraLight was added five years later together with an             ÛÛ Û
Û ÛÛ    expanded character set to include Central European languages.      ÛÛ Û
Û ÛÛ    In 2004 Bliss was upgraded to the OpenType font format. This       ÛÛ Û
Û ÛÛ    current release sees Bliss expand again with the addition of       ÛÛ Û
Û ÛÛ    Greek and Cyrillic scripts across the whole family of weights.     ÛÛ Û
Û ÛÛ                                                                       ÛÛ Û
Û ÛÛ    All three scripts share, in part, a common heritage in form,       ÛÛ Û
Û ÛÛ    which can easily be seen through common characters. The            ÛÛ Û
Û ÛÛ    lowercase though differs quite extensively. In the Greek           ÛÛ Û
Û ÛÛ    lowercase all the characters except the omicron are different      ÛÛ Û
Û ÛÛ    to Latin. With the Cyrillic lowercase, several characters are      ÛÛ Û
Û ÛÛ    the same as Latin, whilst others appear to be strongly             ÛÛ Û
Û ÛÛ    influenced by Latin.                                               ÛÛ Û

Û ÛÛ    While this visual continuity can help to harmonize the three       ÛÛ Û
Û ÛÛ    scripts across the design of a font family, it can also make       ÛÛ Û
Û ÛÛ    it difficult to maintian the individual integrity of each          ÛÛ Û
Û ÛÛ    script. It needs to be remembered that each script has its own     ÛÛ Û
Û ÛÛ    rhythm and structure; forcing the principles of Latin into         ÛÛ Û
Û ÛÛ    either Greek or Cyrillic will not result in a successful           ÛÛ Û
Û ÛÛ    character set.                                                     ÛÛ Û

Û ÛÛ    The simplicity and legibility of form, which underpins the         ÛÛ Û
Û ÛÛ    design of the original Bliss font was applied to the design of     ÛÛ Û
Û ÛÛ    the Greek and Cyrillic. Having begun with the essential            ÛÛ Û
Û ÛÛ    underlying structure of each character, these forms were then      ÛÛ Û
Û ÛÛ    harmonized and brought together as coherent scripts and then a     ÛÛ Û
