Release Notes :

  New Features:

  -File Based Write Filter (FBWF): Helps protect embedded 
   devices at the file level, enables improved servicing.

  -USB Boot: Native support in the OS for booting USB mass 
   storage devices (including USB Flash) on systems with 
   USB 2.0 Boot capability.

  -Registry Filter:  Scenario specific Enhanced Write Filter 
   (EWF) enhancement to write regkeys through to persistent 
   storage. This improves servicing scenarios and results 
   in fewer reboots.


  Footprint Reduction and Componentization:

  -Footprint Reduction:  Footprint requirements have been 
  reduced for many scenarios.  This is due to the 
  re-factoring of Internet Explorer 6, removal of stale 
  dependencies for many components, and the new 
  componentization works as listed below.

  -Internet Explorer 6 Refactoring:  Footprint reduction 
  through refactoring of the “Internet Explorer” component.  
  Devices with features previously dependent on the Internet 
  Explorer component no longer require Internet Explorer.

  -Enhanced Configurable Options:  More configurable 
  options added to common components allowing configurations 
  to be more easily modified in Target Designer. For 
  instance, exposing options in User Accounts, Administrator 
  Accounts, System Cloning Tool, Dr. Watson Debugger, etc.

  -SMS Component:  Reduced the footprint requirements for 
  devices with the SMS Client.
 
  -SQL Express 2005 Componentization:  Macro component to 
  satisfy the dependencies to deploy SLQ Express 2005 on 
  Windows XP Embedded systems.

  -.NET Framework 2.0 Componentization:  Support for .NET 
  Framework 2.0 applications on Windows XP Embedded systems.

  Enhancements to Embedded Enabling Features:

  -Enhanced Write Filter (EWF) Enhancements:  Enables better 
  integration between Hibernate Once Resume Many (HORM) and 
  EWF and improves servicing scenarios.

  -First Boot Agent:  Better integration with windows 
  components. Better options provided to developers when 
  sealing the runtime image.


  Enhancements to Developer Tools:

  -Console Application for Windows XP Embedded:  A powerful 
  command-line tool that enables developers to script and 
  automate many of the functions provided by the Embedded 
  Studio Tools, including creating, modifying and building 
  configurations, importing components, and researching 
  component relationships.

  -Import Framework:  Better developer experience when 
  importing .REG files into components.

  -Target Designer:  Better developer experience when 
  consuming configuration files as XML format.
