Û² ProKon (short for Professional Converter) is a 32-bit Microsoft ²Û
Û² Windows program that is intended to perform numerical conversions ²Û
Û² between the various units used in the scientific and business ²Û
Û² community. Early versions of ProKon were capable of performing ²Û
Û² this, and only this, function. As the program has evolved, many ²Û
Û² things have been added so that the current version is capable of ²Û
Û² doing much, much more. Following is a complete description ProKon ²Û
Û² and what ProKon is capable of doing for you. ProKon is intended ²Û
Û² for use with Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows ME, Windows NT, ²Û
Û² Windows 2000, and Windows XP. ProKon cannot be used with Windows ²Û
Û² 3.11 or earlier versions. There is a 16-bit version of ProKon ²Û
Û² available (called SICon) that is capable of this. ²Û
Û² ²Û
Û² The primary use for ProKon is to convert numerical data to/from ²Û
Û² various units of measurement. While focusing on conversions ²Û
Û² between the metric and Imperial (English) systems of measurement, ²Û
Û² it is capable of performing conversions between many other units, ²Û
Û² foreign, ancient, and archaic. ProKon's capabilities have grown to ²Û
Û² the point that it is capable of performing well over 400,000 ²Û
Û² different unique conversions. You would have a difficult time ²Û
Û² finding a measurement unit that is not already included in ProKon. ²Û
Û² Even if you could, ProKon has the capability of storing any ²Û
Û² special conversion units that you might come up with in a special ²Û
Û² "Custom" conversion class. ²Û
Û² ²Û
Û² The conversions in ProKon are grouped into various "Classes". Each ²Û
Û² class contains units that would logically fit in the Class ²Û
Û² description. Examples of classes are Mass, Length, Viscosity, ²Û
Û² Density, Concentration, Light, Temperature, Area, etc. In all, ²Û
Û² there are 26 Classes to select from. Each of the units contained ²Û
Û² in any Class can be converted to any of the other compatible units ²Û
Û² in the Class. Selection of a pair of units for conversion presents ²Û
Û² a calculation window in which calculations can be performed. ²Û
Û² Calculations are performed 'dynamically', meaning that as values ²Û
Û² are entered under one unit, the converted value is updated ²Û
Û² instantaneously to the other unit. Either conversion value may be ²Û
Û² edited to dynamically display results - useful for 'what if' ²Û
Û² calculations. All data shown can be printed, or copied to Windows ²Û
Û² clipboard and file. ²Û

Û² ProKon also contains a Periodic Table of the Elements. Selecting ²Û
Û² the Periodic Table class shows the complete periodic table of the ²Û
Û² elements. Any element may be selected to bring up a window showing ²Û
Û² pertinent data on that element. Such things as atomic number, ²Û
Û² atomic weight, density, oxidation states, melting point, boiling ²Û
Û² point are shown along with descriptive text on the element giving ²Û
Û² reactivity, uses, sources, prevalence, toxicity, etc. All data ²Û
Û² shown can be printed, or copied to Windows clipboard and file. ²Û

Û² A Class titled 'Material Density' gives density of over 600 common ²Û
Û² materials. Approximate density is given in both metric and ²Û
Û² Imperial (English) units. Densities are available for materials ²Û
Û² from acetylene to flint to mahogany to zirconium. Again, all data ²Û
Û² shown can be printed, or copied to Windows clipboard and file. ²Û

Û² A 'Geometry' Class gives a folder of common geometric formulae. ²Û
Û² Each page of the folder shows a keyed graphic of a geometric ²Û
Û² figure along with various formulae that can be used to perform ²Û

Û² that formula that you learned in school but 'forgot'. ²Û

Û² A 'Constants' Class contains a folder of various types of ²Û
Û² numerical constants used in the scientific and academic ²Û
Û² communities. These lists are a valuable reference tool for ²Û
Û² constants used in chemistry, physics, mathematics, etc. ²Û

Û² Also available from within ProKon is a pop-up combination ²Û
Û² scientific/financial calculator with a scrolling tape. The ProKon ²Û
Û² calculator is capable of performing all of the standard math ²Û
Û² operations +, -, X, /, as well as such things as logarithms, ²Û
Û² natural logs, trigonometric functions, hyperbolic functions, ²Û
Û² powers, roots, factorials, combinations, permutations, ²Û
Û² reciprocals, percentages, etc. Financial calculations such as ²Û
Û² present value, future value, loan calculations, profit/loss, ²Û
Û² interest, currency conversions, dividend, and investments can be ²Û
Û² performed. A 10-location, non-volatile memory that is saved ²Û
Û² between sessions in included. Although very intuitive and easy to ²Û

Û² some of which give access to databases of information on various ²Û
Û² topics. Others allow calculation of various types of data that are ²Û

Û² Modules available are: a module for inorganic chemicals that gives ²Û
Û² data such as formula weight, density, physical form, melting ²Û
Û² point, boiling point, etc. on a very large number of inorganic ²Û
Û² chemicals, a nutritional database that gives nutritional data on a ²Û
Û² large number of food items, for instance, calories, fat content, ²Û
Û² carbohydrate content, etc. A 'Standard Sieve' module gives ²Û
Û² information such as sieve opening size, standard sieve number, ²Û
Û² wire size, etc. on the standard sieve series and a 'Wire/Sheet ²Û
Û² Gauge' module gives wire diameter and sheet thickness in both ²Û
Û² metric and Imperial units. A 'Number Base Conversion' module ²Û
Û² allows conversion of decimal, binary, octal, or hexadecimal values ²Û
