   º  thinking that the warez scene is somehow directly linked to           º
   º  for-profit idiots when that's far from the truth; sellers have no     º
   º  place in the scene and any respectable group does not tolerate        º

   º  Second, it puts an astronomical value on the effect of "piracy"       º
   º  - it's a number that sounds sexy but cannot be proven. But then,      º
   º  we've said this for years.                                            º

   º  Third, it implies that for-profit schemes are based upon scouring     º
   º  P2P networks and sites for goodies to sell. While this is             º
   º  sometimes the case, it seems amusing to us to take a glance at        º
   º  for-profit websites and custom crack operations - there you'll        º
   º  find all sorts of applications not even released to the scene.        º

   º  Yes, folks, you can buy "warez" that you can't download freely. And   º
   º  it has nothing to do with the scene.                                  º

   º  Why?                                                                  º

   º  The US DOJ has had one noticeable effect from its online antics       º
   º  in the scene - it has driven for-profit business through the roof!    º
   º  For-profit piracy has increased tenfold in the last few years,        º
   º  while the scene has remained stagnant. Why?                           º

   º  Well, if you're a talented cracker, why contribute something for      º
   º  free and for the betterment of fellow PC users and risk harassment    º
   º  and jail when you can profit from it and face more lenient            º
   º  penalties?                                                            º

   º  Why not charge money to crack the latest dongle-protected util        º
   º  under the guise of having the customer "prove" ownership? Why not     º
   º  base your business in an eastern European or Southeast Asian nation   º
   º  where enforcement is lax?                                             º

   º  In short, the clowns at the DOJ/FBI have driven talent into the       º
   º  hands of the greedy, while at the same time ignoring the growing      º
