ÛÛ²        The PIPES program calculates flows and pressures in a            ÛÛ²
ÛÛ²        pressure pipe network. Typical uses of PIPES include             ÛÛ²
ÛÛ²        watermain design for subdivisions, fire mains, irrigation        ÛÛ²
ÛÛ²        systems, cooling water systems, pipework and plumbing            ÛÛ²

ÛÛ²        The PIPES++ program is an extended version of the PIPES          ÛÛ²
ÛÛ²        program and is intended for analysis of larger town water        ÛÛ²
ÛÛ²        supply systems where the user is interested in monitoring        ÛÛ²
ÛÛ²        reservoir levels, pump operating times etc over an               ÛÛ²
ÛÛ²        extended time period (eg 24 hours) with system demands           ÛÛ²
ÛÛ²        varying with time. It also includes water quality                ÛÛ²
ÛÛ²        simulation which can be used to predict how chlorine and         ÛÛ²
ÛÛ²        fluoride concentrations vary with time throughout the            ÛÛ²

ÛÛ²        The demo versions of the programs are limited to a maximum       ÛÛ²
ÛÛ²        of 5 pipes. There is no limit to the size of network which       ÛÛ²
ÛÛ²        the full programs will analyse. The only limit might be          ÛÛ²
ÛÛ²        imposed by the amount of RAM in your computer. However, as       ÛÛ²
ÛÛ²        a machine with 4 MB of RAM can handle thousands of pipes         ÛÛ²
ÛÛ²        it is most unlikely that your network will be too large          ÛÛ²

ÛÛ²        DRAINS is a Stormwater Drainage System design and analysis       ÛÛ²
ÛÛ²        program. It  provides a much enhanced successor to the           ÛÛ²
ÛÛ²        ILSAX program which has been widely used for urban               ÛÛ²
ÛÛ²        stormwater system design and analysis in Australia and New       ÛÛ²
ÛÛ²        Zealand. It is co-developed by Watercom and Dr. Geoffrey         ÛÛ²
ÛÛ²        O'Loughlin, developer of the ILSAX program.                      ÛÛ²

ÛÛ²        Like the PIPES programs, DRAINS provides a Windows               ÛÛ²
ÛÛ²        graphical interface. Users can draw drainage system              ÛÛ²
ÛÛ²        components such as sub-catchments, pits, pipes and               ÛÛ²
ÛÛ²        overflow routes. Right clicking on a component will              ÛÛ²
ÛÛ²        display a pop-up menu from which you can choose to enter         ÛÛ²
ÛÛ²        data or view results in various formats. Design rainfall         ÛÛ²
ÛÛ²        patterns can be entered separately. Results such as runoff       ÛÛ²
ÛÛ²        hydrographs are displayed graphically and can be pasted          ÛÛ²
ÛÛ²        into other Windows programs such as spread sheets and word       ÛÛ²
ÛÛ²        processors. A demo version of the DRAINS program is              ÛÛ²
